You love french toast? First time to hear about it? Wag kang mag alala, you are not alone. Is it a FRENCH food gaya ng french fries? They call it lost bread in Europe. Ito yung mga tinapay na wala ng buhay kaya binigyan ng panibagong kulay. Ano daw? Basically, yung tinapay na malapit na amagin, lalagyan ng gatas at itlog atsaka ipiprito. What’s the best French Toast recipe? MADAMI! But I am going to share just 3 🙂

Let’s start with the basic French Toast but we are going to use condensed milk instead of plain milk:

• a pack condensed milk (ito yung naka box na Alasaka ha)
• 3-4 pcs egg
• 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
• isang kurot na asin (yung pino ha)

Mix all ingredients then soak the bread quickly. Yung mabilis pa sa sweldo mong hindi man lang uminit sa palad mo ha. Fry this and eat! Or pede mo i freezer pag ka prito mo then iinit sa oven. Kung naka score ka sa Gardenia ng buy 1 take 1 nila, ito ang gawin mo.

Ingredients

• 2 eggs
• 4 tbsp milk
• ¼ tsp cinnamon
• ⅛ tsp nutmeg
• 4 slices bread, cut into 1-inch thick strips (I used the raisin loaf that’s shaped like a baguette bought at French Baker)
• 1 cup crushed Corn Flakes
• 2 tbsp unsalted butter
• Maple syrup, for dippings

How to cook Corn Flakes-Crusted French Toast Sticks:

1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Put crushed corn flakes in a plate for dredging.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together, eggs, milk, cinnamon and nutmeg.
4. Working one at a time, dip the bread strips into the egg mixture, then dredge in the crushed Corn Flakes, pressing to coat.
5. Add the bread strips to the skillet, 3-4 at a time, and cook until evenly golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
6. Serve immediately with maple syrup.

Ingredients

• 5 cups torn up bread
• 2 cups whole milk
• 5 eggs
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 2 tbsp vanilla
• For The Topping
• 1 stick butter
• 1/3 cup flour
• 1/3 cup brown sugar
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
• Grease the bottom and sides of a 9×9″ glass baking pan with butter or cooking spray. Arrange the torn bread pieces in the pan.
• In a bowl, make a custard by whisking together the milk, eggs, sugars and vanilla.
• Pour custard over the bread, making sure that each piece is moistened. Refrigerate and allow to soak. You can actually prepare ahead up to this point and let the casserole soak overnight.
• Prepare The Topping
  • Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.
  • Mash cold butter into the dry ingredients using a fork to form pebbles.
  • Sprinkle the topping over the soaked bread.
• Bake Uncovered For
  • 30-35 minutes if you want a soft and squishy consistency, 40-45 minutes if you want your French toast to be more firm.

A mom from our Facebook support group asked where’s the best place to shop for Noche Buena and Media Noche and most moms answered SHOPWISE. Kahit naman ako, sagot ko din Shopwise. All I need for Christmas (and New Year) celebration nasa Shopwise. From my handa to Christmas decors and some last minute Christmas gift shopping. My Father in law turned 80 this year and I volunteered myself in the cake department. I would love to create one or bake one but time is not on my side.. as well as creativity. It actually took me a while researching for the best 80th Birthday Cake Design For Male. I was ready to order a classic birthday cake for male look (think of blue, blue, and well, blue) but when my sisters in law mentioned that our father loves billiards, I knew that would be our cake.

I already tried the new Downy Expert Kontra Kulob with our clothes specially with our towels. And we all know how towels are the worst when it comes to catching that kulob smell. Minsan talaga kahit anong sampay mo, yung twalya talaga patapon na lang sa baho. Naranasan nyo na din ba yun? All white bed sheet is a like a dream no? It’s like staying in a hotel but it’s actually your own bedroom. It’s like living a luxurious life in a budget. Waking up to white, fresh beddings then eat tuyo for breakfast! Goals nyo din ba? That’s my dream set up too, minus the tuyo because I can’t eat that, pwede dilis na lang?

But that’s the kind of dream that’s a bit challenging to achieve specially that I have kids who unofficially made my bedroom their tambayan. So I stick to dark colored beddings, and sometimes light colored ones (only for special occasions or when I miss traveling). And with my white beddings, even though I don’t use them that often, mukha pa din siyang luma. Parang dirty white na hindi na white white.

I heard that Ariel has a new product. I heard it while my mother is watching her favorite teleserye. Narinig ko sabi ni Lea Salonga, mukhang instabago in 1 wash. And that coming from an international star, iba to. WE NEED TO TRY IT! So I tried it sa uniform nila.

This is probably one of the best chicken recipe I could share with you. MY kids really love this recipe and I hope you and your kids will love it too. After sharing this on my Facebook Page, I have learned that the chicken curry recipe I know is really different because I use gata. All the while, akala ko talaga may gata ang chicken curry! So that’s one thing that keeps from cooking this on a weekly basis, gata is not readily or conveniently available to us. We have to go to palengke to buy fresh gata. Buti na lang, I just discovered this new fresh gata product from Coco Mama. Sharing with you our chicken curre recipe using gata from Coco Mama Ph.

Pinoy Chicken Curry Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 kg chicken adobo cut
• 3 cloves garlic minced
• black pepper freshly ground
• 1 pc bay leaves
• 1/2 cup vinger
• 1-2 pouch Coco Mama fresh gata
• 1 tbsp curry powder
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
• 1 medium bell pepper, cut
• 2 potatoes, cu

HOW TO COOK PINOY CHICKEN CURRY:

Step 1. Precook chicken in vinegar, 3 cloves garlic, black pepper, and bay leaves. Let it boil and simmer until chicken is cooked.

Step 2. Cook the potato.

Step 3. Saute garlic, onion, bell pepper, then add chicken and curry powder.

Step 4. Add potatoes and mix.

Step 5. Add gata and let it boil.

Step 6. WHen the gata is boiling, add salt to taste, let it simmer for 2 minutes, and done!

I just discovered that I can add mushroom to my kids favorite dishes making it more mush masarap. We love eating mushroom as it is, and yes use it on certain dishes like carbonara. Adding it on, say, chicken pastel, is very new to our kids. Nagulat ako na nagustuhan talaga nila.

Mush Burger Steak 

We all know we put mushroom on burger steak sauce, pero pwede din pala to include yung mushrooms sa burger mismo. Tuwang tuwa talaga ako that I followed Jolly Eats. Ang dami ko nakukuha na recipes na nagugustuhan ng mga kids ko.

Jolly Mushrooms used: 400 grams stems and pieces and 400 grams whole

Mush Pork Giniling 

This recipe is also from Jolly Eats FB Page, but instead of using whole mushrooms, I used yung Jolly pieces and stems variant. We love giniling with lots of veggies. When I tried adding mushroom, medyo nabigla ang mga kids but in the end, mas masarap daw!

Mush Egg Omelette

Instead of usual pork/ham on egg omelette, I decided to add Jolly Pieces and Stems Mushrooms . This one for me is the ultimate breakfast. This is what I usually prepare when my schedule is full and I need a heavy breakfast. It is packed with fiber and protein. A toast or fried rice is all it needs para game na game na magtrabaho si mommy.

We all have that favorite ham right? And out of all the 5 hams in this list, this is my personal favorite. Aside from it is round (which for me is what a ham should be), I really love its tender juicy, meaty and salty profile.

Ready-To-Serve Hams

What does it mean when it says ready to serve? Meaning it is cooked and is ready to serve straight out of packaging. But I suggest reheating it para mas lumabas ang flavor. And also reheating it with glaze gives it more character. Always let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing so that the juice of the ham won’t come out.

HACK: You can re use your oven toaster to heat your ham. If ham is too big, cut it in half (upper part vs lower part). When you arrange in on your serving plate, no one will notice! I do that almost every year.
