Practical Cooking Tip: Vegetable Blanching

$
0
0

Blanching is a cooking process where in you submerge a food substance, mostly veggies and fruits, in boiling water for a few minutes then placed under cold running water to stop the cooking process. Why you should practice blanching? Because it is a tried and tested time saver!

Chopsuey can be done in less than 10 minutes! Promise talaga, this technique is a life saver. This is a must if you are yayaless like me and have mouthssss to feed!

How to properly blanch vegetables? Is there a guide in blanching? Ilang minutes ba dapat?

How long should I blanch? Minutes always depends on the thickness or size of the veggies. Broccoli florets (around 1 1/5 inch diameter) is usually blanched for 3 minutes. Smaller veggies are blanched for lesses time. Thinly sliced vegetables such as carrots are blanched really fast. Always use a strainer, a must have in the kitchen yung medyo malaki na strainer.

Can I reuse the boiling? I do but for veggies that are peeled only. Say, I will use it for carrots, then cauliflower, then broccoli.

Can I blanch all kinds of vegetables? Here are the list of veggies that we tried:

  • sigarilyas (because that’s my fave!!) We usually blanch 1 kilos of sigariylas
  • sitaw and it goes well with almost anything! Adobong sitaw, sinigang na baboy, guinisang ampalaya, pakbet, guinisang kalabasa, the sitaw possibility is endless!
  • Kalabasa
  • Sayote, it should be super quick too! Madali sya matunaw
  • Patola, I tried pero natunaw na sya agad haha
  • Puso ng saging, OK din but nangingitim sya so I would not reco
  • Siling panigang. So pag nagmura na, buy sya mga 1 kg then blanch nya.
  • Kangkong and talbos ng kamote, super quick lang dapat
  • Baguio beans, also super quick lalo na if sliced na
  • Potato medyo matagal, 8-10 min
  • Labanos we also tried, dapat sobrang bilis lang

Yan ang naalala ko so far but basically, we blanch veggies based on recipe. So if we have plans to cook chopsuey, will blanched all ingredients then sama sama na sila sa ziplock.

Another advantage if blanching is mas maganda yung kulay ng gulay, mas matingkad sya and I do not know why. As to nutrient loss, yes merong loss, but hello, at least hindi sanity mo na loss because with blanching, hindi ka na maloloka sa pag aasikaso ng lutuin.

You will need at least half the day to blanch a 2 week vegetables menu. Isang paguran lang but hayahay na buong linggo di ba. Try mo din and tell me how it went for you.

5 Tips to Keeping Your Kids and Pets Safe From Fire Ants

Fire ants are definitely one of the most annoying things we can have in our yard. They can be a big nuisance in our homes as well as outside. If you have kids and pets spending a lot of time outside, you have to keep them away from these fire ants to avoid their pustule-causing stings. A single sting to a person with allergies can ultimately cause an anaphylactic shock. These tiny troublemakers can also put a toll on our livestock. That is why to solve this; we find ways to get rid of these pesky fire ants before they kill us. The easiest way would be to spray insecticides to illuminate them, but using harmful chemicals can harm our kids and pets. But the good thing is; there are safe ways to do this.

Here are five tips for keeping your kids and pets safe from fire ants.

1. Use non-poisonous methods.

If you have kids and pets, you would want to use ant deterrents that are friendly to the environment and is safe to use. Using homemade insecticides will allow you to eradicate the fire ants without having to worry about poisoning your pets and kids. Most of the ingredients in making a homemade insecticide can be easily bought in the market. It is even possible you already have it in your pantry. Some examples would be orange peels and club soda. Ants are repelled by citrus oil and the carbon dioxide in the soda can suffocate the ants.

2. Use hot peppers.

Another safe way of keeping fire ants away from your pets and kids is by locating their nest and pouring boiling water with hot chili peppers in it. All you have to do is bring a teapot to boil and place about 4 hot chili peppers. Do this away from your kids and pets to keep them from getting burned from the pepper and hot water. After that, pour the hot chili pepper juice into the ant’s nest. It will automatically kill the ants and prevent other ones to live in it.

3. Use effective fire ant treatments immediately if your kids or pet are stung.

A fire ant’s sting can cause a lot of trouble and annoyance to both humans and animals, which are why if your kid or pet gets stung, use fire ant treatments right away. Applying a cold compress immediately can reduce the swelling and adding a hydrocortisone cream can relieve the itching.

4. Look for the ant queen.

In order to prevent more eggs from being hatched, look for the ant queen and eradicate it first. That way, you don’t need to worry that your kid or pets could meet more ants in the future.

5. Cover the entry points in your home.

Any cracks and crevices in your home should be sealed to avoid ants from getting inside your home. Also, make sure to wash the surfaces that have been walked upon by ants to eliminate the pheromone trail they leave behind. This is what they use to find their way back.

Curious Questions About Stocks (With Answers)

$

Ano ba yung stocks, kikita ba talaga ako dyan?

Stocks

It is used to define the ownership of a person to a certain corporation.

Tinatawag din itong stock investor or shareholder.

Types of Stocks: Common Stock at Preferred Stock

Buying of Stock

Ang COL Starter pack ay may kasamang basic research reports, standard market information, and end-of-day charting data.

Types of Stockbroker- Full-Service Broker and Discount Broker

How to Profit From Stocks

Step by Step Procedure How To Start Sa Stocks

  1. Look for a stockbroker and open an account- ihanda mo na din ang mga requirements

4 Tips To Choosing The Best Chef Knife

$
0
0

A chef knife needs to be light enough so it does not tire you easily, sharp, and requires less maintenance. It should perform various tasks easily may it be cubing meat, chopping carrots or slicing onions. Best of all, the knife needs to be durable so that it can give you service for a long time.

So, how do you know which is the best chef knife?

The knife with a well-balanced blade and handle

When choosing the knife, check the grip. The knife should have a comfortable grip and it should feel good when you hold it in your hand. The blade and the handle of the best chef knife should be well balanced to provide an excellent grip. It should have a good balance such that it does not put a lot of weight either on the handle or on the blade. The knife should not place a lot of weight on your wrist so you do not tire quickly.

To check the grip, try the knife by placing your finger on the handle in the grip groove and hold it horizontally with the edge down. Most people find the 8-inch chef knife more comfortable since it has the best ratio of mass to the cutting surface and it can perform most of the kitchen tasks such as cutting vegetables and meat.

However, if it feels a bit long for you or if your kitchen is small, you can opt for the 7-inch one. It does not mean that the bigger the knife the better it will be, it all depends on how comfortable you are while using it and the intended task.

It does not require frequent maintenance

The best chef knife does not require frequent sharpening and maintenance. It should remain sharp for long. Knives that require frequent sharpening end up losing their shape, which affects their effectiveness.

Made from durable material

A chef knife should be made from a material that can withstand a lot of use without being damaged. Choose a heavier knife with thicker blades and that can endure the work, rather than a knife with thin blades that are brittle and can chip easily if they come across a hard surface like that of a bone.

Most chefs prefer knives made of high-quality stainless steel since it is easy to care and can remain sharp for long. While most chefs opt for heavier knives on the notion that they ‘feel’ right, make sure you choose a knife that you can use for a long duration without being tired. You may opt for a lighter knife that can perform as well as the heavier ones, provided you keep the blade sharp to compensate for the lack of weight.

Choose the right handle

The handle of the knife should be comfortable, provide a sturdy hold, and not cause bruises on the palms. You can opt for a handle made of fiber, wood or steel depending on what you prefer and the ‘feel’ of the knife that you prefer. Just make sure that the knife has full tang so that it can have a good balance.

5 Tips To Keeping Your Home Clean

$
0
0

For someone who lives a busy life and spends his or her time working, cleaning might be the least exciting activity in the world. It’s boring, dirty, and not to mention, very time-consuming. Moreover, even when you have done a spring cleaning for a whole day, you won’t believe how much dust your house accumulates for just a few days. The next thing you knew, you’re rearranging your sofa again and wiping every piece of an appliance in your kitchen. Be that as it may, cleaning is something that you have to include in your routine not just for your physical health but also for your mental and emotional well-being. When everything is organized and clean, you’ll feel comfortable and relaxed in your own home without worrying about cobwebs, and unwashed dishes piling up. Here are five simple things that you can do to keep your home clean.

Relate post: Tropical Home Decorating Ideas: 5 Things You Need

1. Divide and Conquer

Cleaning is a never-ending task, and the sooner you find an efficient way to manage it, the better. Doing everything at once on your own is not the smartest things to do. Instead, you can create a cleaning schedule and list what you need to do for a particular day. For instance, you can vacuum the house every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and wipe all the furniture every Tuesday and Thursday.

2. Do Something Easy Daily

There is nothing more stressful than waiting around for six straight days knowing that you’ll have to spend an entire day cleaning your house and be left feeling exhausted. As a workaround, why not do something easy and fast every day? This can be as easy as making your bed for two minutes after waking up or taking out the trash on your way out.

3. Multi-Tasking

No one expects you to do everything your own in a perfect manner. However, there are ways to keep your home clean without wasting time. For instance, while you’re waiting for your food to cook, then you can spend the time cleaning your kitchen counter and washing the dishes. Right after taking a bath, you can spend a few minutes cleaning the floor or wiping the mirror. While doing a load of laundry, fold and hang your clean clothes.

4. Hire a Professional Cleaning Service

Even with a lot of planning and time management, there are always days when you want to take a break from doing anything. That doesn’t mean that you have to forego cleaning and leave a mess around. In this case, you can always hire a professional cleaner to do the house cleaning for you. If you are looking for house cleaners who know what they’re doing for an affordable price in Australia, then feel free to check out Maid2Match Brisbane to get an instant quote and learn more about the services available.

5. Clean as You Go

Cleaning after yourself is not just a great technique to save time but also hygienic. If you wash the dishes right after dinner, then there is less chance to attract flies or insects. The same goes when you disinfect your kitchen counter and dining table as soon as you finish cooking. Once you are finished washing your face and brushing your teeth, you can wipe the sink.

My mom is super duper in love with plants specially orchids, so when she learned about the Orchids Show in Quezon City Circle, we just have to go! I also want to know if Phalaenopsis Orchids In Quezon City Circle is really cheaper than anywhere else.

Phalaenopsis Orchids In Quezon City Circle

I bought my first Phalaenopsis Orchids in Cubao and it was 750 Pesos. I got it last February 2017 and the flowers lasted for 3 months. Sadly, no flowers again since then.

Phalaenopsis Orchids is also known as Moth orchids. When I was younger, my mother used to call this as butterfly orchids. It has become one of the most potted orchids because it is easy to propagate and in most cases, flowering is easy too. It’s a very popular indoor plan specially because the flowers can last for months. And not to mention, the flowers are really beautiful.

It’s a dream for me to won a few Phalaenopsis Orchids and when I asked how much the price in Megamall flowershops, I was discouraged. Price range of Phalaenopsis Orchids in malls are 1000 pesos and up!

I am glad we found a cheaper in Cubao Farmers but was amazed at how cheaper it can get in Quezon City Circle. Phalaenopsis Orchids In Quezon City Circle price is only 650 Pesos per pot with flowers. During our visit in Tabang, they don’t sell moth orchids.

Phalaenopsis Orchids comes in different colors but my most favorite is the white Phalaenopsis. I am also hoping to own the smaller variety or dwarf Phalaenopsis Orchids.

I have always been curious with the art of Bonsai. I have so much respect for people doing this. It takes a lot of time, effort, and patience to create a beautiful bonsai. And with that much effort, I am also curious with the price of Bonsai in the Philippines. I am not planning to buy one yet, but we will never know! I am posting this as a reference for me in the near future and for those asking for price of Bonsai in the Philippines. I took this video when we visited the Orchids Show in QC Circle last September 2, 2018.

You can Bonsai in Quezon City Circle and the price ranges from 150 Pesos to 75,000 Pesos. Of course the bonsai depends with each price. Calachuchi is one of the most popular bonsai plant I have seen. Boxwood seems to be the most expensive bonsai in Quezon City Circle.

Price of Bonsai In The Philippines

Price of Bonsai In The Philippines

This is the most expensive Bonsai I have seen in QC Circle. The Price of Bonsai In The Philippines of this kind of bonsai is 75,000 Pesos. The younger or smaller version of this is only 8000 Pesos.

Price of Bonsai In The Philippines

This is the smaller version and this is 8000 Pesos. It’s very tempting to buy this one but I am very afraid in taking care of bonsai. I am not so sure if I can take care of this very well. 8000 Pesos is a big amount for a small plant.

FYI from Bonsai Empire: The most expensive Bonsai tree: A centuries old Pine, sold for 1.3 million dollar at the International Bonsai Convention in Takamatsu, Japan.

House cleaning can be fun but can also be hectic when you have a lot of other things to do. There are ways you can make it less engaging and easier even with a busy schedule. Here are the five best tips to help you do so;

Do the simple tasks daily
One of the most effective ways to keep your house clean is to carry out the simple tasks every day. Do your dishes after every meal instead of piling them in the sink. Also, wipe your kitchen counters after a meal and take out trash often to avoid lingering smells in your house. Make your bed when you wake up and always keep your dirty clothes in the laundry baskets to avoid piling them all over your bedroom. Develop a habit of keeping things back where they belong after you use them. Doing these small things will help in keeping order in the house and will make it easy for you to clean it.

Establish your private and public spaces
Making some spaces private and leaving others public can help to step up your cleaning techniques. Your guests are likely to use some areas like the patio, dining area, living room, and the bathroom. Always ensure that these places are kept in order and clean. Other rooms like bedrooms or the study can be kept private and can be cleaned over the weekend or when you get the time to clean them.

Hire a professional
House cleaning can sometimes be hectic especially with your attention divided between your job and your kids. It can be hard to use the little evening time after work to cook, clean the house, and spend time with your kids. With the different cleaning professionals in Melbourne, it is vital to look out for the best one. Do your research well to hire an established house cleaning Melbourne company which will help your efforts to maintain a clean house. They have professional maids who will leave your house spotless, giving you time to engage in other activities.

Create time to clean with family
You can get a little help from your family to clean. Set your timer and assign different duties to your kids and spouse. You will be surprised by how different your house will look like even after 10 minutes of cleaning. Making this a daily routine will ensure that the house is always tidy and will make cleaning a little easier. Make it interesting and invent a game out of it or give the kids weekly allowances to keep them motivated with their assigned duties.

Keep the dirt outside
A good way to keep your house clean is to invest in good doormats. Placing two doormats, one in the inside and the other outside, will go a long way to help maintain a clean house. Also, coming up with a no-shoe policy is a good way to minimize the number of times you have to sweep the floor. Invest in a good shoe mat or rack and place it near the front door and always encourage your house guests to leave their shoes there.

Recently, there have been stories of hospitalization due to dengue. Most cases leading to admission of the patient to the ICU or intensive case unit. There has been a report of surge of acute dengue virus in some hospitals. And in my post on my Facebook Page on what to do to prevent this kind of thing, a lot of people asked for the price of Dengue NS1 Test Philippines.

Yes, that’s what happened in most cases. There is not much symptoms to say that it is dengue but as it happens, the case is already acute. What are the usual signs for dengue? Fever is one but more than that, it also includes other signs such as fatigue, change in stool, and body aches. Sometimes it is also accompanied by rashes. In recent events, dengue cases starts from a slight fever but when the patient is hospitalized, an ICE treatment is already needed due to organ failure.

A recent report from Inquirer says that a doctor died due to dengue. And more cases of acute dengue is being treated, most patients being admitted to the ICU. This is quite alarming for all of us. Worrisome for most moms.

What moms should do?

We need to be extra vigilant when it comes to fever At the first sign of fever, observe your kid. Observe for 24 hours and if the fever persists, go to the nearest pedia or hospital and ask for Dengue NS1 Test Philippines. Now, how much is Dengue NS1 Test Philippines? Is it covered by your health card? Is Dengue NS1 Test Philippines covered by HMO?

Dengue NS1 Test Philippines

How much is Dengue NS1 Test Philippines? The prices ranges from 400-3000 Pesos depending on the hospital. In Hi Precision here in Pasig, the price of Dengue NS1 Test Philippines is 1200 Pesos. In Healthway, the price is 1560. I asked a big hospital, The Medical City, and the rate is 2000-3000 Pesos.

Tuna Pesto Pasta Recipe

One afternoon, I only have 30 minutes to prepare a meryenda. Why only 30 minutes? I need to prepare it in between hair coloring. Hair color needs to sit on my hair for 30 minutes. Window time! A quick scan on my supplies and I found the perfect ingredients for a Tuna Pesto Pasta snack:

PRODUCTS USED:
  • Doña Elena Olive Oil
  • Doña Elena canned tuna
  • Doña Elena Classic Green Pesto Sauce
  • Doña Elena Aldente pasta

Now you might wonder why all the products I used are Doña Elena products. This post is not sponsored by Doña Elena. it just so happens that my pantry is full of their products. Tokens from articles I posted for them.

This Tuna Pesto Pasta Recipe is super duper easy to make.

  1. Start by boiling water.
  2. As soon as the water boils, put the pasta and start cooking the sauce.
  3. Put olive oil on pan.
  4. Then add tuna and cook for 2-3 minutes
  5. Next is the pesto sauce then cook for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Drain the pasta.
  7. Mix the pasta and the sauce.
  8. Garnish with white cheese and shrimp.

And the end product is really good. The measurement of each product match perfectly with each other. 1 bottle of Pesto sauce plus 1 can of tuna is enough for a bag of penne pasta.

Amazing (and Easy) Halloween Decorations for Your Garden

When you take the kids out trick or treating around your neighbourhood you can’t fail to be amazed by some of the outdoor and indoor decorations that some dedicated followers of Halloween have put together.

Next up, you’ll wonder exactly how they found the components – and the time – to get it all done before the big night itself. Chances are, most of their displays weren’t that hard, so with a bit of online and junk-store shopping, alongside a smattering of craft-smarts, you too can wow this year’s crop of willing victims…sorry, trick or treaters!

Invest in some welcoming signs
Heading to My Security Sign and ordering some fun and welcoming Halloween garden signs is a great way to let people know you have a big stash of candy waiting for them inside. Best of all, the only skill you need is the ability to use a sense of humour and a buy now button!

Go to town with the spiders’ webs
This couldn’t be easier. Order or shop for an industrial amount of fake spider webbing, locate a few fixing points around the front of your house – from the roof to the ground and beyond – and get fixin’! Tree branches, hooks, garden furniture and rocks can all serve as anchor points and when the web is spun, you can scatter its victims around it. Buy the biggest fake spider you can find and place it in the centre, as well as some gruesome looking egg sacs.

Create a sinister ambience with a smoke machine
Again, this couldn’t be easier – using the dark magic of online shopping you can source a user-friendly smoke machine and the fluid then use it to spread a creepy mist around your garden. If you can get hold of some fake gravestones as well, you’ve got the set of an old-fashioned horror film right there outside your front door.

Have a skeleton campfire
Buy some plastic skeletons from the decorations aisle in your nearest emporium – three or four should do – dress them as cowboys and arrange them on logs around a (fake) campfire. The campfire is easy to make, just stack branches and twigs around some super-bright yellow and orange LED lights. You could leave a couple of spaces on the logs free for the living so they can take photos with their skinny new friends.

Hang loads of bats from your trees
You can have some fun here, because you could find some glow-in-the-dark bats, or ones whose eyes light up so that people can see them and avoid bumping into them. Then you could add some that don’t glow in the dark so that people can’t avoid bumping into them…

Carve some pumpkins
You have to, really, or it’s not truly Halloween. You don’t have to restrict yourself to scary faces, though. Or, indeed, to classic orange carver pumpkins. See if you can collect together lots of different sizes, shapes and colors of pumpkins, squashes and gourds so that there’s variety and interest for people as they walk up your garden path.

Grocery is on a monthly basis sana para tipid oras, pagod, ang also easier to manage the finances. But with the use of cheap containers and recycled containers, napansin ko na hindi na fresh ang wet goods pag iluluto ko na. My mother has been telling me to invest on Tupperware because of assured freshness. Sige na nga, let’s give it a try, si nanay na nagsabi e. So what’s the Best Tupperware for Freezer?

A quick search from Tupperware Brands Philippines website, and the best Tupperware for freezer is Feezermates. It comes in different sizes:

  • 650 ml small solo
  • 1 L small solo
  • 1.5 L small solo
  • 2.3 L Medium

Best Tupperware For Freezer

Best Tupperware For Freezer

The 650 ml small solo is perfect for one cook, good for 3-5 persons, meal. The best Tupperware for freezer for seafood or meat that we usually cook during lunch.

The 1 L small solo is the best Tupperware for freezer to store our meat/beef/seafood that’s scheduled for dinner. That’s for a family of 5 kids plus 3 adults.

The 1.5 L small solo is good for big fishes like Tilapia and Lapu Lapu while the biggest one, Freezermates 2.3 L medium is good for big amount of food, which in our case, bulalo or whole liempo.

And yes, freshness is what Tupperware Freezermates is all about. When you put the food inside make sure all air are released. There’s a technique to do that. Just need to press down the cover before closing.

3 Things I like about Tupperware Freezermates

Tupperware Freezermates keeps my food fresh. My husband is very keen on freshness and with the use of the best Tupperware for freezer, maintain ang freshness ng food kahit monthly ang pamamalengke namin.

Tupperware Freezermates helps me in achieving my goal to be eco friendly. We bring this to sa palengke. This is our container for our seafood, tapos from palengke, straight to the freezer na. It makes you feel good about yourself, na in a way, you are helping the environment by not using single used plastic.

And even sa grocery, Shopwise is always accommodating to this kind of request. Sa ibang grocery kase they would insist on putting the meat sa plastic. Sa Shopwise, they just calibrate the weighing scale para diretso na doon ang meat namin. TIP: Sa takip nyo ipalagay ang tag price, mas madali sya alisin.

Tupperware Freezermates keeps my kitchen clean, organize, and tidy. Kase nga stackable, ang ayos tingnan when I put it in our kitchen lalo na sa loob ng freezer. And it’s easy to identify the food contents because of sheer base and polished windows.

Where to buy Tupperware Freezermates?

You can check Tupperware Brands Brochure every month through Tupperware Brands website: Tupperware Brands Brochure

You can also go to the nearest Tupperware Brands branch:

But if I were you, I would apply to be a Tupperware Brands dealer. You get to buy Tupperware Brands products at dealer’s price and pwede ka pa kumita!

5 Reasons Why US Potatoes Is The Best Breakfast For Kids

I have 5 kids and 4 are already attending school, 2 must be ready by 5 AM while the older 2 must start getting ready by 6 AM. The youngest, I pray everyday that he won’t wake up until 7 AM. It’s a daily challenge but mostly it’s a win. I have with me a support system that makes everything seems easy. For one, my husband is trying to be the one to pacify Marius when he wakes up earlier than 7 AM. Husband usually sleeps at 2, I can’t thank him enough for doing that extra job. My mother on the other hand, help me with what the kids need.

Breakfast is one thing that I always try to be the one to prepare. It’s my way of saying or showing to them that even with the new baby, I still have time to take care of them. I make sure that they always eat a complete breakfast. One that is loaded with carbohydrates, protein, and fiber from fruits.

We try to alternate it with bread and Potatoes and I know you are going to ask why! So here’s 5 reasons why we include US Potatoes in my kids’ breakfast:

It is easy to prepare and versatile. From fried to bake to even making it in a soup. Potatoes can be served as snacks, breakfast in our case, or even as a main dish. Here’s a sample of a US Potato used as main dish:

That’s Seafood Potato Stew and the recipe you can find here: Seafood Potato Stew Recipe. US Potatoes is also good for baon. Last year, I made a one week baon menu using US Potatoes.

US Potatoes is delicious and my kids really love the taste no matter the recipe is. Of course our favorite will always be fried (specially the criss cross one) but we’re also inclined to choose US Potatoes Croquette.

US potatoes provides the energy, carbohydrates and potassium kids need to power performance throughout the school day. And that is the reason why this mom is all about potatoes. Being in the school for more almost 10 hours can be really tiring. I make sure that they have the energy they need by serving me the right food in the morning. US Potatoes is an ideal part of their breakfast because of the energy and potassium it provides. It’s also good for me since I am breastfeeding. Potatoes’ a good source of Potassium.

US Potatoes is available in leading supermarkets. Hindi sya mahirap hanapin and I can always get a bag of potatoes when we do our grocery, whatever supermarket it is.

It is relatively cheap specially the frozen. US potatoes affordability and versatility makes it the perfect breakfast for my kids. Hindi compromised and budget at health ng kids.

Potatoes USA, an organization that has thankfully brought US frozen, recently visited the culinary club of The Raya School in Fairview, Quezon City to demonstrate the potato’s versatility. Two potato dishes that was prepared were Broccoli Cheddar Potato Puffs and Chocolate Mashed Potato Truffles.

Let’s talk about the new look of Shopwise Alabang. I am impressed… really impressed, comparing this to other Shopwise branches, ang laki talaga ng pagbabago.

Here are the 5 things to love about the new Shopwise Alabang:

The new Shopwise Alabang is well lit. Pwede na mag selfie everywhere. Kidding aside, I really love the lighting of the new Shopwise Alabang. It brightens up the mood and makes my shopping experience happy. Alam mo yung feeling na pagpasok mo ng grocery magaan yung pakiramdam mo, that’s how I felt when I went inside Shopwise Alabang.

The new Shopwise Alabang aisle is really big. Two carts can fit in at the same time.

The new Shopwise is well organized. I love the fact that there’s a specific area for each needs. Gaya ng mga household needs na hindi consumable, plates and the likes, they are placed on one side, adjacent to the appliances. May flow and I really like it. Veggies and fruits comes together and then a few steps away from that area is the seafood and meat section naman. For a mom who live big and is always on the go, it really helps talaga pag well organized ang pupuntahan mo na grocery and that it is a one stop shop. All you need for your house, you can find in Shopwise.

Dinning area is big. Shopwise is truly the place where moms can go as this is a one-stop-shop for all your household needs! There is even a dining area and it’s big and with many food options. Good place to hang out sa mga tweens and teens while mom is doing the grocery.

Superb Shopwise experience. This is what I love most about the new Shopwise Alabang, that even though nag renovate sila, the feeling of getting most out of your money, of being a wise shopper is still there kase yung mga promos and good deals are still displayed at the center na mas madali makita.

Even after renovation, and its interiors looking classier and more modern than before, Shopwise stays true to their commitment to give an enhanced shopping experience for their shoppers in addition to their best deals and offerings.

Yabu Best Seller: Birthday Dinner for My Teen

What is Yabu Best Seller? Everything, I guess. Overall experience. This is our to go to place for all kinds of celebration. Birthday, graduation, birthday, lunch with friends, birthday. And we do have a lot of birthdays in our family. 5 kids hello, plus the grandma and occasionally siblings’ birthdays. I hope they are not reading my blog. Baka magpalibre lagi sa Yabu!

Yabu Best Seller: Birthday Dinner for My Teen

What do we usually order? Siguro for us, Yabu best seller will always include the mozarella sticks, chicken katsu, shrimp katsu and pork katsu with a little fat trimmings.

These are what we ordered for Mahat’s birthday dinner:

  • Mozarella Katsu Sticks
  • Rosu Set (pork with fat) 180 g
  • Prawn Katsu set P495
  • Chicken Katsu set 180 g
  • Refillable sets
  • watermelon shake
  • Lava cake

I can’t remember how much our bill was or what are the quantities of each of our order. But we spend more than usual because of the shakes.

Yabu Best Seller

photo from Yabu FB Page

If it will be your first time to try Yabu at may kids kayo, dont order kiddie meals, order na lang kayo ng refillable set for the kids then order the biggest gram. The first time we eat at Yabu, maling mali ang ginawa namin. That was like 5 years ago, yung bill namin nung unang beses kame kumain sa Yabu, mas mahal pa din sa bill namin ngayon. Hello may inflation pa ha. Eh kase naman back then, we ordered 1 meal per bigger kids tapos may kiddie meal pa per smaller kid. I forgot to mention pala na we are plus 2 mouths na and bigger stomach pero mas mura pa din bill namin.

How do we do it? We order refillable sets for smaller kids and for sharing na lang ang mga katsu. Although lately hindi na kasya yun. Hell teenagers!

So anyways, if you are a big family and have kids, order Yabu Best Seller in biggest grams. Refillable sets for younger kids, it already includes rice, soup, cabbage, and fruits that can be refilled.

Where to Buy Christmas Decors in Manila

Christmas is just around the corner. Oh let me rephrase that, CHRISTMAS IS HERE. I know it just November but Christmas here in the Philippines comes really early. IN fact, as the clock strikes 12 AM on September 1, Christmas sons can already be heard. Sept 1 is officially the first day of Christmas here in our country! And I know as early as August, some people are already asking Where to Buy Christmas Decors in Manila.

Where to Buy Christmas Decors in Manila

I am not an early decorator, I must confess. I also love Halloween so I usually save October to first week of November for Halloween. Though I don’t really decorate for Halloween, there is always a slim chance that I might! And since Halloween is over and Undas break is over too, kids are all in school again, I think it is just high time to start decorating or planning!

So I have been thinking lately, Where to Buy Christmas Decors in Manila? Is there a one stop shop for Christmas decors here in Metro Manila? I believe there is none, I mean it’s that going on each and every store looking for the perfect decors is what it’s all about di ba? The excitement of finding something that is unique and speaks to you. So I am giving you this list of top 5 places Where to Buy Christmas Decors in Manila.

Where to Buy Christmas Decors in Manila

Dapitan Arcade for Christmas Village. This is the top place to go when you are looking for home decors. Christmas pa yan o anuman. Kung may mall of asia, ito naman ang home decor store of asia. So of course, this is top on my list.

Where to Buy Christmas Decors in Manila

photo from Dapitan Arcade FB Page

This is the best place to look for Christmas Village in Manila. Sobrang daming choices, different materials, different sizes, and different prices.

Aside from Christmas village, Dapitan is also known for native decors and novelty items. If you are looking for Christmas lanterns and dont want to travel to Pampanga, Dapitan Arcade is a must!

SM Department Store for Christmas theme inspiration. I know it’s quite amusing that I am adding SM Department store in my list, considering that, Christmas decors at SM can be a bit expensive.. pero, when it comes to ideas and themes, panalo ang SM! If you have no idea what theme you want, go to SM. They literally have everything. The Christmas decor section at SM Department store (specially Megamall) is full of not just Christmas decors but inspiration! Also, best place to buy Christmas lights kase assured ka sa quality.

Divisoria for Christmas Tree. Yes and yes and yes. The Christmas Tree I bought from Divi is still up and running er standing and it’s 5 years old na. forgive me if I can’t remember how much my tree was but natatandaan ko ang mura ng bili compared sa mall. Where to buy? GO at the back part, sa likod ng dating Divi Mall and look for stalls selling Christmas Trees.

PRO TIP: Mag canvass ka muna! And start shopping now bago pa mag December.

Shopwise for cheap Christmas balls. I love Shopwise for the very reason na feeling ko wise shopper ako every time I shop there. Christmas decors there are really cheap. I noticed from my Shopwise Alabang visit, mas marami na silang decors ngayon ha and the price is still affordable. I also do my last minute Christmas house wares shopping at Shopwise, every year!

Landers Superstore for REAL Christmas tree and decors from US. No doubt about that. You can really buy a REAL CHRISTMAS TREE from Landers. Kinda expensive though para sa mga gaya naming dukha but I am sure there are those who appreciates real Christmas tree. Christmas decors from Landers are really unique and you won’t find it malls or department stores. Sa Landers lang! How to be a Landers member? Check membership requirement here.

I am planning to visit Dapitan Arcade soon and will definitely VLOG about it! When is the best time to buy Christmas decors? NOW!
